Job Description

A leading international aviation helicopter component and engine repair and supply company in the Kansas City area is seeking to hire a Shipping and Receiving coordinator.

The Shipping and Receiving coordinator is an individual of impeccable integrity who unconditionally subscribes to the company’s mission and high ethical standards. The coordinator under limited supervision will carry out and manage the day to day operations of the shipping and receiving department as well as audit functions to improve the overall processes to increase operational readiness and proficiency.

Essential Duties

  • Manage and carry out the day to day operations of the department
  • Liaison between company and US Customs officials and other Import and Export broker / clearance personnel
  • Establish accounts and maintain relationships with LTL, Air and Ocean vendor representatives
  • Coordinate inbound, outbound and third party shipments
  • Perform condition inspections and verify all inbound & outbound materials by count and weight for accuracy and order completion
  • Record, manage and audit data as required
  • Receive and process all incoming goods received and route to appropriate departments
  • Material preparation, handling and packaging
  • Manage all freight claims and processes
  • Process Hazmat shipping
  • Perform internal audits in cooperation with other departments

Position Requirements

  • Sufficient working knowledge of international and domestic transportation systems and functionality including import and export requirements for the movement of products
  • Must possess superior customer service skills
  • Effective listening, communication (verbal and written), negotiation and phone skills
  • Proficient in MS Office applications
  • Must type 30 words per minute
  • Problem-solving and analytical abilities
  • Excellent project management skills
  • Accurate and detail orientated
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced environment
  • Above average level of professionalism
  • Organized and able to manage multiple tasks
  • Must be able to work independently and be a self starter
  • Possess leadership skills and the ability to mentor and coach
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds when necessary
  • Must have experience with material handling equipment
  • Fork lift and power tool operations required

Education and Experience Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Associates or Bachelors degree preferred
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in a position of similar scope
